RhinoCeros
Rhinomanometry is a dynamic test that measures trans nasal pressure and airflow. By providing a display of the resistance to airflow through the nostrils, RhinoCeros gives you a better understanding of the patient's subjective feeling of nasal patency.
Nasal resistance is calculated by measuring the flow through the nose and also the pressure of force required to cause the airflow.
Because the nasal resistance is very low, the flowmeter needs to have the lowest possible resistance. To verify the quality of your flowmetre, it's easy : just put the mask on your face and breath once quickly and strongly. If you feel a suction on your face, that will say that your flowmeter has a big air resistance and this is not recommended for a good measurement of nasal flow.
There are two types of measurement of rhinomanometry, the first is anterior rhinomanometry and posterior rhinomanometry. The RhinoCeros is able to do both !
The advantage of this test is that it can very accurately assess nasal blockage in the nose and difficulty in breathing due to other reasons. It also measures nasal blockage at normal breathing. However, the disadvantage is that it does involve expensive bulky equipment and requires staff to operate it.
Measurements are:
In many countries, reimbursement is standard.
Integration with DiSoft
Only DIFRA offers integration of the RhinoCeros with his DiSoft software (computer based ENG/VNG).
Connection to hte computer : USB 2.0
The software DiSoft can record, compare, printout all the rhinomanometric standard values.
